Protect your PDFs and e-books, share and sell them securely.
Upload a PDF and DocusPocus turns it into an encrypted file that opens only for the people you choose. They read it in the secure web reader or the DocusPocus Viewer for Windows and macOS, and you can update it or take access back at any time.
Share your document with peace of mind.
Your file stays encrypted, opens only for the people you allow, and you decide how long they can read it.

Protected in three steps
- Upload your PDF DocusPocus encrypts it into a protected .dcspcs file. The original PDF is never handed out.
- Choose who can read it Invite people by email, let them join a public zone, or let your store add buyers automatically. Access can be lifetime or time-limited.
- Share or sell Readers sign in and open it in the web reader or the DocusPocus Viewer. Update the document or take access back whenever you want.
Not a .pdf — a protected DocusPocus file.
A .dcspcs file is your PDF in protected, encrypted form. Send it by email, add it to a course or put it on a download page: it opens only for the people you allow.
Encrypted with AES-256
Standard PDF readers can't open it, and the original PDF is never handed out.
Checked against each reader's account
Every time the file is opened, DocusPocus checks that the signed-in reader still has access.
Access you can take back
Revoke access or let it expire, and the file no longer opens for that reader.
One update, no resending
Update the document once — everyone reading online sees the new version. No new link to send.
Secure reading and sharing on Windows and macOS
The free DocusPocus Viewer opens your protected documents and e-books on the desktop: a full reading experience with protection built in.
Watermarked printing

Frequently asked questions
Can readers download or forward my files?
Protected PDFs and e-books are never shared as download links. Readers sign in and open them in the DocusPocus web reader or desktop Viewer, and the only downloadable copy is an encrypted .dcspcs file that opens in the Viewer for readers with access. In the Viewer, printing adds a personal watermark and saving as PDF is blocked. For other files you share in a zone, you decide whether members can download them.
Can I update an e-book after people have bought it?
Yes. Replace the PDF and everyone reading online sees the new version the next time they open it. Nobody needs a new link.
How do I give or remove access?
Grant access automatically through your checkout or the Developer API, or manually by email. Access can be lifetime or time-limited, and you can revoke it at any time.
What is a .dcspcs file?
A .dcspcs file is your PDF in DocusPocus's encrypted format. You can share the file freely: it opens in the DocusPocus Viewer only for readers you have given access, and you can take that access back at any time.
What if DocusPocus is missing a feature I need?
Tell us. Signed-in users can post ideas on the Feature suggestions page, or you can write to info@docuspocus.com. We'll do our best to build it.
